Confirmation
Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The Church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus.
If you are interested in being confirmed please contact the Parish Office 0151 608 4429 to find out more.
Baptism
We are delighted to offer Christenings/Baptism within our 4th Sunday of the month service at 10 am. If this is something you would like to progress, then please contact the parish office. We will then arrange for members of our baptism team to visit and we offer a short preparation session with a member of clergy. We also encourage you to attend one of our All Age worship services or a Family Friendly activity.
You can find out much more about Christenings at https://www.churchofengland.org/life-events/christenings
Wedding
We would love to help make your wedding day one that is truly memorable, filled with joy and God’s blessing. We therefore like to meet with the couple to discuss their plans and arrangements, offer a preparation session and a rehearsal before the big day.
A really helpful guide to a church wedding can be found at https://www.churchofengland.org/life-events/your-church-wedding Please contact the parish office if this is something you would like to progress.
Funerals
The loss of someone close to you is understandably difficult. We want you to know that we are here to support you in and through this difficult time.
You can find a helpful guide to arranging a Christian funeral at https://www.churchofengland.org/life-events/funerals
The first step is usually to contact your selected Funeral Director who will then begin to make necessary arrangements on your behalf, including booking a service at our church and/or the crematorium. They can advise you on every aspect of the practicalities of the funeral. Once they have been in touch with us and provided details about the deceased and the next of kin, the minister taking the service will be in contact and arrange to meet with you (at home, church or virtually if you live at a distance). They will compassionately discuss the content of the service so that it is a real tribute to the deceased and a comfort to yourselves.
We appreciate that bereavement is tough and ongoing and have found the Bereavement Journey to be beneficial to so many. https://www.thebereavementjourney.org/ We therefore regularly run courses which not only help you to understand your feelings but allows you to share confidentially within a supportive group. Please contact the parish office for dates of the next course. Further support can also be found at https://www.ataloss.org/
We also offer an informal sandwich lunch for those who have been bereaved known as “Befrienders”. This happens every first Thursday of the month at 12.30pm. You are very welcome to attend.
